Amchara Miniature Bull Terriers
Amchara is an old Celtic word that means "a friend for
the soul" It describes how I feel about my dogs and
animals in general. I truly believe they are a special gift
from God.

I have had dogs all of my life, purebred dogs for all of my adult life. My husband made the
mistake of suggesting I find a hobby when we first got married, and so I did!

I had Shelties for over 25 years with a few Golden Retrievers and Great Danes thrown into the
mix along the way. I had always admired the look of the Bull Terrier, and on a whim one day
about 1
8 years ago, I bought my first Bull Terrier. He became Ch. Amchara's Good Ole Boy,
C.D., C.G.C, "Bubba" to his friends.  Bubba eventually let it be known that either he or the
male Shelties had to go...needless to say Bubba won.

I then purchased a bitch puppy from Tom & Glenna Wright.  She became Ch. Glentom
Classic Design (Bubbles). After having two litters, she was spayed and placed in a wonderful
pet home. By that time, I had decided that I wanted to try the Minis out for size.  My back was
giving me trouble, and I thought I could handle the little guys more easily.

I was fortunate enough to acquire Ch. Graystone Helen A Handbasket  in 1994 from Kathy
and Al Schoeler at the tender age of one year. She became the foundation of the Amchara
Minis and the love of my life. Helen was a great ambassador of the breed. She produced well,
the mother of 4 champions, including Ch. Graystone Lil Bit O' Country, the first Mini to go
Best in Show (twice)!  Helen is also the grandmother of the 2002 National Specialty winner,
Ch. Crescent Amchara Sorcery.

All the dogs here at Amchara live in Helen's shadow, and she's one tough act to follow!
